Spangled Plumage

Color of Male
HEAD: Lustrous rich dark red, each feather ending with a small V-shaped white spangle, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the remainder of the feather.
NECK: Hackle - lustrous dark red, each feather ending in a small diamond-shaped white spangle, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the balance of the feather and extending upward forming a narrow black stripe in center of feather.  Front of Neck - same as breast.
BACK: Lustrous dark red, each feather ending with a small diamond-shaped white spangle, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the remainder of feather and extending upward, forming a narrow black stripe in center of feather.
SADDLE: Same as hackle.
TAIL: Main Tail - black, each feather ending in a V-shaped white spangle.  Sickles, Lesser Sickles & Coverts - lustrous greenish black, each feather ending in a V-shaped white spangle.
WINGS: Shoulders & Fronts - black, ending with a small diamond-shaped white spangle.  Bows - lustrous dark red.  Coverts - lustrous black, each feather ending with a sharply defined V-shaped white spangle, the spangling being larger and more pronounced than other spanglings, the whole forming two distinct bars across wings.  Primaries - black, with V-shaped white tips.  Secondaries - outer webs forming wing bay, each feather ending with a white tip, remainder of web black, the whole forming a spangled effect at end of secondaries when wing is folded and held in its natural position.
BREAST: Lustrous black, each feather ending in a V-shaped white spangle.
BODY & STERN: Body - same as breast.  Stern:  fluff, black, tipped with white.
LOWER THIGHS: Same as breast.
UNDERCOLOR: Slaty gray in all sections.

Color of Female
HEAD: Golden red, striped with black, each feather ending with a small V-shaped white tip, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the balance of feather.
NECK: Hackle - golden red, striped with black each feather ending with a small V-shaped white tip, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the rest of the feather.  Front of Neck - reddish salmon, marked same as breast.
BACK & CUSHION: Dull black, finely and heavily stippled with medium shade of brown, with brown predominating each feather ending with a V-shaped white spangle, a narrow black bar dividing the white from the remainder of the feather.
TAIL: Main Tail - Black, each feather ending with a V-shaped shite tip, two top feathers evenly stippled with medium shade of brown, with brown predominating, ending with a V-shaped white tip.  Coverts - same as back.
WINGS: Shoulders, Fronts and Bows - same as back.  Coverts - dull black, finely and heavily stippled with a medium shade of brown, with brown predominating, each feather ending with a large, sharply deefined V-shaped white spangle, a black bar dividing the white from the rest of the feather, the spangle being larger than other spanglings, the whole forming two distinct bars across wings.  Primaries - dull black, with V-shaped white tips.  Secondaries - dull black, with lower web evenly stippled with medium brown, each feather ending with small V-shaped white tip, a narrow black bar dividing white from balance of feather, the whole forming a spangled effect at end of secondaries when wing is folded and held in its natural position.
BREAST: Rich salmon, shading lighter as it nears the body, evenly stippled with brown, feathers tipped with small V-shaped white spangles, a narrow black bar dividing spangle from remainder of feather.
BODY & STERN: Body - same as breast, but with lighter shade of salmon.  Stern - fluff, brown tinged with white.
LOWER THIGHS: Same as body.
UNDERCOLOR: Slaty gray in all sections.

Disqualifications
Solid white feathers in any section of the plumage, except the wings and/or head where 3 or more solid white feathers shall disqualify.

Defects
Large white spangling, giving bird an overall too light appearance - Lack of spangling in back and breast - Male breast that is too dark and lacking white tipping - Excessive amount of white in main tail and wing feathers - White spangles that run into black sections of feathers - White tips that are marred with tiny ticks of black - Improper ground color and improper black markings.

Eyes: Reddish Bay
Beak & Legs : Yellow preferred; swarthy allowed
Ear Lobes: red
