As an organization the Serama Council of North America strives to present a professional, friendly, family oriented environment in which it's members can enjoy the hobby of raising, breeding, and showing Serama. In order to accomplish our goals the SCNA has set forth the following Code of Ethics. Any person who is a current or future member of the SCNA should read through this information carefully. All disputes should be resolved by the Grievance Committee as laid out in the "Resolution of Disputes" guidelines as set forth by that committee. Any member leaving the SCNA, who leaves the organization after paying dues, whether by choice or by request, agrees that no dues paid to the SCNA will be refunded under any circumstances. By continuing as a current member, or becoming a new member you inherently agree that you will follow this Code of Ethics to the best of your ability. --------------- Code of Ethics ---------------
The SCNA will be guided by the following common code of conduct: 1. As a member of the Serama Council of North America (SCNA) I will always keep the best interests of the SCNA in mind and serve as an advocate of the organization. 2. I will strive to promote the Serama and the SCNA in a positive manner. 3. I will strive to act in a professional, respectful, responsible manner as a member of the SCNA whether in person, via email or any message board, knowing that all my actions reflect upon the entire membership of the SCNA. 4. When participating in SCNA sanctioned shows/exhibitions I will not criticize or interfere with the judge or other exhibitors or other conduct detrimental to the breed ,show, or our organization. 5. I will do my best to respect the decisions of the governing council and appointed committee's of the SCNA, even if their decisions differ from my own opinion. 6. I will contact the proper person(s) or committee should a dispute arise which needs to be resolved. Only by allowing this process to work within our organization can we strive to improve the SCNA and the standards set forth. 7. I will not knowingly or willfully publicly slander, harass, or otherwise demean any member of the SCNA or other organizations. This includes but is not limited to telephone conversations, email, and the use of public message boards operated by ANY organization. Any member found to be in violation of this Code of Ethics will be subject to a formal review by the members of the grievance committee. If a member of the SCNA is found to be in violation of the Code of Ethics, the committee can then recommend a course of action to the governing council of the SCNA which can include, but is not limited to the following: 1. Formal written warning including a detail of the grievance filed against the member in question. 2. Suspension of privileges as an SCNA member for a length of time as determined by the Grievance Committee. This can include, but is not limited to, the suspension of posting privileges on the SCNA message board and/or suspension of participation in any sanctioned SCNA Serama show for a length of time to be determined by the Grievance Committee. 3. Removal from appointed or elected positions within the SCNA 4. Removal/Suspension/Banning of the member from the SCNA without refund of dues paid. NOTICE: The SCNA reserves the right to refuse membership applications/dues submission from any person(s) who have proven themselves not to be in good standing, either with the SCNA or any other organization. If refused membership, you have a right to file a dispute which will be reviewed by the Grievance Committee. Once the dispute is reviewed the decision of the Grievance Committee is final.
